Hospital Neighbors Bothered by Noise

A plan to move an air ambulance service to the Santa Fe Municipal Airport from its current base at St. Vincent's Hospital is moving through City Hall without opposition.

Air Life Flight's request to base its operations at the airport, a plan that would eliminate refueling flights and thus mitigate noise bothering hospital neighbors, will go to the City Council on July 9.

Essentially, the air ambulance service would fly in and out of the airport, refueling there and having its operations set up on 4.9 acres at the site.

Air Life Flight, which runs emergency missions in Santa Fe, northern New Mexico and parts of Arizona and southern Colorado, has been at the center of a debate among hospital neighbors upset about the chopper's noise levels. …
