Loans Would Assist Low-Income Residents

A plan to preserve diversity Downtown through development of low-income housing will go out to the community for review.

The plan revolves around the Albuquerque Civic Trust, a proposed nonprofit entity that would complement Downtown revitalization by offering loans and investments for low-income housing, space for arts organizations, affordable commercial properties and parks.

"I'm thrilled that we're trying to line up these resources, the resources that don't currently exist, the resources that will complement the existing resources that are available," said Louis Kolker of the Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership, and one of the people involved in drafting the plan. …
