* Greeters, kiosks and hot line among ways department hopes to improve treatment of customers

The state Motor Vehicle Division is taking a chapter from the Wal-Mart playbook in what the division says is a new crusade to improve customer service.

Within the next few months, the department plans to start posting "greeters" at some of its busier offices around the state, MVD spokeswoman Kathleen Baca said Friday. Those greeters will field questions, direct people to help and make sure they've brought the right documents with them before they waste time waiting in line.

More self-service, touch-screen computer kiosks will soon be coming to MVD offices statewide -- and some will be in the Navajo language, Baca said. …
