Art Santa Fe opens July 11

Thirty-five galleries from around the country and from Mexico, Spain and Germany converge at the Sweeney Center to showcase their stables of contemporary artists July 11-13.

The fair's organizer is local gallery owner Charlotte Jackson. Visitors can browse the latest artwork from Chattanooga, Baltimore, Miami and Seville.

The centerpiece of Art Santa Fe, at 6:30 p.m. July 11, is a talk by noted art critic and historian Robert Hughes. The author of several art books, including "The Shock of the New" and "American Visions: The Epic History of Art in America," Hughes informs and entertains 20 million readers each week as the art critic for Time magazine, a post he's held for 33 years. …
