Indictment: Cop Used Stops to Get Sex.(Final)

An Albuquerque Police Department officer used his official vehicle to stop motorists and others for sex, according to a 32-count indictment filed Friday.

In some instances, Christopher Chase, 29, detained people for no apparent reason. In all, 14 people, most of them young, are alleged to have been victims of the officer.

The grand jury indictment charges felony counts of kidnapping, tampering with evidence, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, criminal sexual penetration of alleged victims including minors and eight petty misdemeanor counts of battery.

Not all the victims were sexually assaulted, and the charges generally do not involve trading sex in exchange for having criminal charges dropped, said Deputy District Attorney Julie Altwies. …
