Beef. It's what's for dinner. So is linguine alfredo with shrimp, and a garden's worth of gourmet salads.

Albuquerque restaurants cooked up a storm to keep the horde of emergency personnel fed and watered.

Chefs from the Outback Steakhouse were grilling up burgers to order Wednesday night. Not to be outdone, Garcia's Restaurant kept the command center at the Home Depot near Coors and Interstate-40 well stocked with enchiladas, frijoles and green chile by the vat Thursday night.

It took an army to feed an army. Dozens of volunteers came out to ensure that the men and women who battled the bosque fire into submission were well fed, rubbed down and ready to go back out. …
