Rams Girls Take Second in All-Sports Race.(West Side Journal)

* La Cueva finished the year as the state's top program in Class 5A

In girls athletics, only one high school in New Mexico during the 2002-03 season was more prolific than Rio Rancho.

Not surprisingly, that school was La Cueva. The Bears this week were crowned the Class 5A all-sports trophy recipient by the New Mexico Activities Association.

La Cueva scored 540 points, 60 points ahead of the Rams. The total takes into account team and individual performances.

Eldorado was third, Hobbs fourth and Cibola (3221/2) fifth.

La Cueva's boys also finished first, with a gaudy 7571/2 points. …
