AUFC '86 and Striker IV Qualify for the Regional Semifinals.(State)

New Mexico's boys jumped to a good start in the quarterfinals of the Snickers U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Honolulu.

In 8 a.m. (Hawaii time) games Thursday, two State Cup-champion teams qualified for the 13-state tournament's semifinals with always-sweet victories over two California squads.

"We won 2-1 (in the quarterfinals) against the San Juan Predators from California North," said Sage Moore, coach of the under-17 boys of Albuquerque United Football Club '86, via telephone.

Meanwhile, Las Cruces' Rio Vista New Mexico Striker IV, a U16 boys squad, remained undefeated with a 3-1 quarterfinals win against California North's Ballistic United Premier. …
