Health care providers, payers and consumers found some promise and a lot of unanswered questions in a state proposal to overhaul health insurance.

The overhaul and other components of the Richardson administration's health care reform agenda were discussed Thursday at a meeting organized by four Richardson cabinet members at the TVI Workforce Training Center in Albuquerque.

State officials say they hope the agenda becomes a road map to provide universal insurance coverage and health care access in New Mexico.

Possibly the most far-reaching idea would create a state-sponsored insurance pool that could include state employees, Medicaid recipients, employee groups and the state's 400,000 currently uninsured residents. …
