Long Days of Summer Packed With Events

Most art galleries take a break in summer, but not so in the City Different. After all, with the long days and influx of tourists comes our most lively season. Even without a SITE Santa Fe biennial this year, summer brings a packed schedule of art activities, much of it designed to piggyback on two major events -- the contemporary art fair, Art Santa Fe, and PhotoArts, a festival of photography.

Thirty-five galleries from around the country and Mexico, Spain and Germany converge at the Sweeney Center to showcase their stables of contemporary artists July 11-13. The fair's organizer, local gallerist Charlotte Jackson, does an amazing job of transforming the former gymnasium into an elegant exhibition hall. Without leaving Marcy Street, you can browse the latest artwork from Chattanooga, Baltimore, Miami and Sevilla. …
