Solar Music Festival Heats Up in Taos.(Journal North)

* An eclectic mix of artists will play at the three-day event

A broad mix of rockers, folkers, world beaters and electro-acoustic-Gaelic-Native-trancers invade Kit Carson Memorial Park this weekend for the fifth annual Taos Solar Music Festival.

Included in the eclectic mix will be locals and international acts alike, headlined by Harry Belafonte, John Hiatt, Michelle Shocked and Colorado's Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

A major part of the festival is the Solar Village, free and open to the public with the latest in what's new under the sun in terms of products and information from vendors and the New Mexico Solar Energy Association. The entire festival is an extension of KTAO radio; its solar-powered signal covers an area from southern Colorado to Espanola, Los Alamos, parts of Santa Fe, and all the communities in between. …
