Lavender Lovers Can Get Their Fill at Los Poblanos Farm.(West Side Journal)

Admit it. Haven't you fantasized about strolling through a field of blooming lavender, absorbing that heavenly scent through every pore?

Here's your chance. Los Poblanos Farm is hosting the first Lavender U-Pick days in Los Ranchos. Visitors will have a chance to see one of New Mexico's rare lavender fields at its peak blooming season and cut a fragrant bouquet to take home for $5.

"This is our first big harvest," said Armin Rembe, who with his wife, Penny, is owner of Los Poblanos, a 25-acre farm known for its historic buildings, exquisite gardens and commitment to maintaining the agricultural heritage of Los Ranchos.

"Soon, this whole field will be a beautiful blue."

The couple is active in Lavender in the Valley, a part of Los Ranchos' Agricultural Committee. The group is hosting several lavender events throughout the summer.

While the local lavender community has been creating lavender-enhanced foods and crafts for the past few years, this harvest season they will have a new tool in their arsenal -- a still to extract the essential lavender oil from the plant's buds, stems, and leaves. …
