New Development Touts Urban Feel

Neighbors had mixed reactions to plans for a mixed-use development at Indian School and Louisiana.

Denish & Kline Associates and architectural firm Dekker Perich Sabatini presented details of phase one of ABQ Uptown at the Albuquerque Marriott on Wednesday on behalf of owner/developer Hunt-Uptown LLC.

The 17-plus acres will be designed as an urban environment, with 175,000 square feet of retail space and 725 residential units built above it. In addition, about 54,000 square feet of "boutique" office space will be built in the second stories of two of the buildings.

"It's bringing more of an urban culture to Albuquerque," said Ken Pirtle, who lives nearby on Leah Drive. …
