New Mexico Teams Are Making Strong Showing in Honolulu.(Final)

Call it a working vacation.

On Wednesday in Honolulu, 11 of the 17 New Mexico teams competing at the Snickers U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals qualified for today's quarterfinals.

"We had some nerves in the beginning," Sage Moore, coach of the under-17 boys of Albuquerque United Football Club '86, said via telephone. "But they're doing pretty well now."

Moore's team (2-1 in the preliminaries) defeated Real Hawaii Football Club Real Copa 1-0 on Wednesday. United's Nick London scored the game's sole goal.

AUFC '86 will play California North's San Juan Predators in the quarterfinals.

All three of AUFC's teams advanced to the quarterfinals. …
