Wildlife West Plans Jazz Jam.(Mountain View)

* Local musicians welcome to join the show -- as long as they play the right type of music

Local musicians will take the stage at Wildlife West Nature Park on Sunday.

This time, however, cool jazz will rule the day instead of the down-home picking of last weekend's first bluegrass festival.

Wildlife West and the Mountain Arts Council are sponsoring the first-ever Jazz Jam Session from 1 to 5 p.m. at the park's covered outdoor amphitheater.

Some of the area's best jazz players will be performing, according to Michael Herrmann of the arts council. Among those expected are E.H. "Hack" Hackney (guitar), Pam Gravagne (keyboards) and Rob White (bass), all of Sandia Park; Mike Swick (bass) and Gene "Bones" Hutchensen (drums) of the Albuquerque area; Mike Astor (drums) and David Scribner (sax) of Corrales; and Tim Mioduchowski (flute) from Santa Fe. …
