Delegation Urges Reissue of Stamps.(Journal North)

The New Mexico congressional delegation has requested that the U.S. Postal Service resurrect a 1977 U.S. postage stamp series commemorating the pottery of New Mexico's pueblos.

In a letter to Post Master General John E. Potter, New Mexico lawmakers advocated reissuing the stamps and linked the idea to the upcoming opening of the National Museum of the American Indian.

"We think that reissuing the four stamps for 2004 would be a great addition to the celebration of the National Museum of the American Indian, opening in Washington D.C. next year. Furthermore, this could be done in conjunction with a possible temporary exhibit of the pots and stamps in New Mexico," the letter to Potter said. …
