* Residents near hospital speak out at meeting, say they were lied to about new air ambulance service

The noise from a new air ambulance service was on the minds of residents living near St. Vincent Hospital during a contentious meeting with hospital executives and the chopper's owner Tuesday.

But what to do about it was as choppy a subject as the air cut by the rotating blades from the air ambulance.

"This is not just a group of people sitting here whining," said Arroyo Chamiso neighborhood president Lisa Barker, while a group of about 25 other residents listened during the meeting at City Hall. "It truly changes your home and where you live. It is a problem."

The issue has raised the ire of many local residents, who contend that when the air ambulance service, New Mexico Life Rescue, was permitted to begin operation, it was under the condition that the service would not be disruptive to nearby homeowners. …
