APS Hopes to Be Paid Up Next Week.(Final)

Albuquerque Public Schools paid another $3.8 million last week toward resolving its debt, district officials announced Monday.

The district is one week from its self-imposed deadline to pay off bills that vendors have complained are long overdue. APS says the problems stem from its conversion to a new $7 million Lawson financial system.

APS has not computed how much it still owes because doing so would require pulling employees off of the accounts, spokesman Rigo Chavez said.

The amount paid in the past week amounts to 2,271 requisitions, according to a prepared statement. …
