YMCA collecting money to send kids to summer camp

Want to know why the YMCA is making it a priority to help send more children to summer camp? How about these three reasons: Toasting marshmallows over a campfire for s'mores, hiking a mountainside, or possibly making a new best friend for the summer.

The YMCA has kicked off its "Kids to Camp" program, which allows people or companies to pay the way for a child to attend summer camp at the Y's Camp Shaver in the Jemez Mountains. The camp is located 5 miles from Jemez Springs.

For $300, a child spends a week at Camp Shaver, complete with meals, fun and adventure, said Shaver's director Tim Eiserle. …
