'Topes Get a Win Over the Sky Sox

COLORADO SPRINGS -- Scott Sanders struck out nine, and Rob Stratton hit his 26th home run as the Albuquerque Isotopes beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 2-1 in the Pacific Coast League on Friday night.

Stratton's two-run shot came in the sixth inning after Wilson Valdez reached on an infield single.

Sanders (2-2) pitched a complete game, allowing only six hits and giving up two walks.

Chris Gissell (3-1) worked seven strong innings for Colorado Springs, surrendering just six hits, including Stratton's homer. He struck out four and walked none.

Gissell singled in the sixth and scored on Rene Reyes' groundout. …
