Davalos: Carey Isn't Returning.(Final)

The news isn't surprising, but it's official. Senque Carey has played his last men's basketball game for the University of New Mexico.

Carey, paralyzed nearly two weeks after a fall during the team's second game of last season, won't be allowed to return to the Lobos, despite his hopes otherwise.

In January, Carey underwent surgery to remove a bulging disc in his upper spine at the Stanford University Medical Center.

Earlier this spring, Dr. Lawrence Shuer of the Medical Center cleared Carey to play again.
