Salary Increases Start at 3 Percent

Pay raises are making their way to Santa Fe Community College's permanent employees.

Friday, the governing board announced salary increases effective July 1. The board also will incorporate a minimum base salary that amounts to $17,680 a year for full-time employees.

Most people already earned more than the newly set minimum base salary, governing board Chairwoman Linda Siegle said Friday.

"We actually pay fairly competitively," she said. "Getting people up to that minimum level, there weren't that many people below it. We want to try to do our best to make sure people can live in this community. …
