Public School District Eliminates Two Vacant Positions.(West Side Journal)

Less predicted revenues and more expenses for the next budget year has led to the elimination of two administrative positions at the Bernalillo Public Schools district.

Superintendent Gary Dwyer said getting rid of the finance director and public relations positions was necessary in order to meet the state-mandated 6 percent raise for teachers. The budget also includes a 3 percent raise for all other employees, which also was mandated by the state, Dwyer said.

That also means the district will have to deplete all of its $1.33 million beginning cash balance to make up its $24.21 million operating budget, which is $1. …
