Developers redesign Harvard Street near UNM.(Business Outlook)

For the developers of Harvard Mall, the two blocks south of Central Avenue in Albuquerque are the gateway to a future, thriving University of New Mexico "destination area."

Kino James and Jay Rembe, both with Maestas & Ward Commercial Real Estate, are developing -- or redeveloping -- two blocks of underutilized retail and residential space across from the university. The pair bought the land from an owner who had assembled the properties over 30 years.

Construction on the first phase of the two-block makeover began in early April. The store fronts at 105 and 107 Harvard are being completely refitted to create a brick facade reminiscent of a 1920s Downtown. …
