Women's Festival Promotes Spiritual Revival.(West Side Journal)

What do women from nearly 150 churches and four states, representing a variety of ages and denominations have in common?

Organizers of the Southwest Women's Festival hope after this weekend the answer is a lot.

The fifth annual event is designed to promote spiritual revival among women, regardless of denomination or demographics.

"It's one of the few events that crosses ecumenical lines in the Southwest," said festival spokeswoman Karen Kasser.

Those lines have been crossed throughout Albuquerque as well, with a host of West Side churches and women playing key roles in the weekend's activities.

Teri Markham of Calvary Temple has been involved with Southwest Women's Festival since its inception after the Franklin Graham Crusade at the Pit in 1998. This year she is playing a dual role as board member and overseeing music for the conference.

Markham has assembled an eight-member praise and worship team from churches across the city. …
