National Club Pro At Twin Warriors

ROCIADA -- Big Webby's back, and with a bold message for the rest of the field at this week's National Club Pro Championship.

"I think everyone in the tournament is scared to death of me," says Larry Webb, colorful head pro at Pendaries Golf and Country Club in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. "If they hear I'm coming, they might wet their beds at night worrying about me."

Webb, New Mexico's lone entrant in the 156-player field, then explodes into a jovial laugh that would turn Santa Claus' suit green with envy.

"Heck, I have as much chance of winning the National Club Pro as Annika Sorenstam did the Colonial."

The event, which begins Thursday at Twin Warriors Golf Club at Santa Ana Pueblo, features the top club professionals in the country. The level of play will be the strongest in the state since the 2000 Buy. …
