13 Transfers to Help APS Pay Bills.(Final)

Albuquerque Public Schools has reassigned 13 employees indefinitely to help the district pay off its bills, Lead Superintendent Joseph Vigil said Monday.

Vigil said the district transferred "as many people as we have computer availability for" to help meet vendor complaints of overdue bills and a pending June 30 deadline to finish paying them. June 30 is the end of the fiscal year.

"They should make some pretty dramatic progress," Vigil said in a telephone interview Monday night. "We have a long way to go."

APS has paid $8.45 million on 3,319 invoices since June 2, according to a prepared statement. …
