Rain Delay, Beavers Dampen Series Finale

The first rain delay in Isotopes Park history turned out to be the source of the loudest ovation for the home team all night in a 9-6 loss to visiting Portland on Monday.

In the finale of an eight-game homestand, the visiting Beavers battered Isotopes starter Doug Bochtler (5-3) before and after a 54-minute delay in the bottom of the first inning.

Making a spot start for Kevin Olsen, Bochtler was touched for seven runs, nine hits and three homers in three innings. He also walked a batter and gave up at least two runs in each inning he worked.

Olsen, who was scheduled to take the mound for the 'Topes, was called up to the parent Florida Marlins on June 11. …
