Pitcher Propels 'Topes to Win

Kids, it looks like your dad wants out of Albuquerque.

Right-hander Scott Sanders had the best starting performance in the brief history of the Albuquerque Isotopes on Father's Day. His four children, ages 6 weeks to 7 years, had flown in from Los Angeles for the game.

"Made for a special night," said Sanders, who held Portland on six hits through eight innings of a 7-1 Isotopes Sunday-evening win that was easy as Sunday morning.

Before a crowd of 12,206, the 'Topes batted for the cycle in scoring four first-inning runs, and they were never threatened. Albuquerque led 7-0 before Portland's Tagg Bozied wrapped the first pitch of the sixth inning around the left-field foul pole for the Beavers' lone score. …
