Blood bus will visit donors.(Business Outlook)

Lovelace Sandia Health System has purchased a new $150,000 bus for United Blood Services and named it the Lovelace Sandia Blood Vessel.

The 40-foot coach is equipped with three booths for interviewing blood donors and four beds. An average blood drive using the coach can collect 75 donations.

The bus will travel around New Mexico to make giving blood more convenient for donors, according to a news release.

The organization has adopted a theme for the bus: "Be a Hero -- We Know You Have it in You."

"There's no question that donating blood is a heroic act that saves lives," said Norm Becker, president and CEO of Lovelace Sandia Health System. …
