Moriarty OKs 80-foot tower.(Business Outlook)

MORIARTY -- The Moriarty City Council has given the green light for Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative to build an 80-foot communications tower on its property off Martinez Road.

The electric co-op had requested an exception to the city's zoning law to allow the tower to be higher than 35 feet. The council voted 2-1 at its regular meeting last week to allow the exception, with Councilor Ted Hart casting the dissenting vote. Councilor Dennis Shanfeldt was not at the meeting.

The tower is part of a larger plan to construct a new 52,000-square-foot building across Martinez Road from the co-op's current location. …
