Isotopes Collect Win Over Former Dukes.(State)

The franchise that used to be in Albuquerque played the franchise that now is in Albuquerque on Friday night, and the new guys won.

The Albuquerque Isotopes beat the Portland Beavers 11-9 in front of 9,268 at Isotopes Park in a Pacific Coast League baseball game.

The PCL franchise that had been in Albuquerque for 29 seasons was sold to a group from Portland, Ore., and moved there at the end of the 2000 season. New Mexico was left without professional baseball for two seasons.

The franchise in Calgary was purchased and moved to Albuquerque to start this season, and the nickname was changed to Isotopes instead of the old name of Dukes. …
