'Unveiled' goes deep into opera.(Final)

Desiree Mays signs and discusses her book "Opera Unveiled" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Page One.

This is Mays' fifth book profiling the upcoming productions at the Santa Fe Opera. Her books tell of the history of the opera as well as the people behind it -- the composer, the librettist and others connected to the creation of the opera.

Mays tells about the early life of Jacques Offenbach, who wrote "La Belle Helene," which opens the SFO 2003 season June 27. Jakob (later Jacques) Offenbach was born in Cologne, Germany.
