Violinist Shane Kim is one of 19 students participating in the Taos School of Music's Summer Chamber Music Program and Festival, which offers concerts by two resident quartets and student musicians from June 22 through Aug. 10 at Taos Community Auditorium and Hotel St. Bernard at Taos Ski Valley.

The 25-year-old Yale University graduate student returns to the festival for his second season to study with the Takacs String Quartet and the Chicago String Quartet.

"I think that the Taos Summer Chamber Music Festival is the perfect environment for studying chamber music," Kim explains. "Being in Taos Ski Valley, surrounded by mountains, is relaxing yet inspiring and void of all the distractions of life back at home in the city and at school. …
