Long before taking up the sport in 1963, this 96-year-old knew she was born to bowl

Josephine "Jo" Smith bowls in three leagues at Gary Skidmore's Holiday Bowl every Monday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays, she goes to the alley to practice.

So it probably would come as no surprise to say that Smith is an avid bowler. It might raise a few eyebrows, however, when it is noted that Smith is 96 years old.

"I don't do anything but bowl," Smith says, adding that she is particularly drawn to the sport because of its accessibility.

"Whatever your age or condition, or the scope of your current ambition, if you know how to bowl, it is good for the soul and enhances your social position," says Smith, quoting one of her favorite self-authored limericks. …
