Home Depot To Pay $15 Million

SANTA FE -- Home Depot owes the owners of a defunct Santa Fe shutter-making company almost $15 million in damages and attorneys' fees, a district court judge has ruled.

This month, Santa Fe District Judge Carol Vigil awarded Santa Fe Custom Shutters and Doors Inc. $2.8 million for attorneys' fees.

The ruling comes on top of nearly $12 million awarded to Santa Fe Shutters earlier this year by Vigil, who found the home improvement chain had broken an oral contract with the Santa Fe company.

Santa Fe Shutters was in financial straits when the Santa Fe law firm Corneau, Maldegen, Templeman and Indall chose to represent it, Vigil said in her recent ruling. …
