Cajun band makes a rare appearance at Zoo Music series.(Venue)

The Cajun band Balfa Toujours is celebrating its 10th anniversary not by playing more, but by slowing down.

Reason for the slowdown is that the band's leaders -- vocalist/guitarist Christine Balfa and accordionist Dirk Powell -- have just had a baby.

"We play occasionally, maybe once a month now," Balfa said from their home in St. Martinville, La.

But Balfa Toujours is finding time to give a concert at 7 tonight at the Rio Grande Zoo, 903 10th SW. It's part of the Zoo Music series. Admission is $7 general public, $3.50 children ages 3-12 at the gate.

Balfa and Powell are stopping in Albuquerque en route to visit family in California. …
