Intel Emissions Flap Heats Up.(West Side Journal)(Editorial)


A new element has been added to the controversy over air emissions at the Intel computer chip plant at Rio Rancho.

George Evans, a senior-level scientist involved with monitoring Intel's air emissions, quit his job last month and says he did so because plant officials prevented him from setting up monitoring criteria that would provide accurate information about what chemicals Intel releases into the air. Serious charges, to say the least.

Intel spokesman Terry McDermott said, "From what we understand, George didn't have all that much visibility of the overall process with the project," McDermott said. "His project was a piece of a much larger puzzle. …
