Citizens to Save Casa and a park full of well-wishers broke into song and passed out atta-boys over a job well done at the Thanks-for-Saving Casa San Ysidro party at La Entrada Park in Corrales on Saturday.

The beleaguered Casa San Ysidro museum has survived two rounds of Albuquerque budget cuts and remains open due to the efforts of the volunteer group that lobbied state, county and local governments to keep the museum open.

Former state Sen. Pauline Eisenstadt led this year's effort to keep the museum open after she learned of plans to close the museum doors and send the $2 million collection of Spanish Colonial artifacts to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque. …
