* Rodeo competition won't hurt relationship, women say

One has been dreaming about the position since she was a young girl. The other is competing after years of wanting to but never having the courage to do so.

On Sunday, childhood friends Wesley Bougie and Kelli Younker competed for the chance to be crowned queen of the 56th Rodeo de Santa Fe in 2004. They seek the crown held by 19-year-old Emily Alexis.

Along with the crown, the two girls vied for a $1,000 scholarship, a custom saddle, a silver buckle and a chance to enter the State Fair's queen contest in September.

Although it's not known which of them will be crowned queen on the evening of June 21, it is clear the two will remain friends. …
