Operational Plan Remains Unbalanced

Albuquerque Public Schools offered a $118 million administrative budget to the board of education Wednesday.

That's a cut from last year of 16 percent, which got transferred into school and cash reserve accounts.

Missing from the presentation was the district's entire operational budget -- expected to be close to $460 million. It has yet to be balanced.

APS administrators say the operational budget, which includes individual school budgets and a negotiated 6 percent mid-year raise for teachers, will be ready for the board review June 4, one day before it's due to the state Department of Education. …
