Moriarty Telecom Tower Decision Put on Hold.(Mountain View)

The Moriarty City Council at its regular meeting Tuesday held off making a decision on whether to allow the Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative to build an 80-foot telecommunications tower on property off Martinez Road.

John Wheeler, executive director of the co-op, said the tower is part of a larger plan to construct a new 52,000 square foot building across Martinez Road from the co-op's current location. The tower would allow communications with other electrical cooperatives around the state, as well as communications with the local co-op crews, Wheeler said.

In order to place the tower, however, the co-op needs permission from the city to build it taller than 35 feet. …
