BIA Contractor Gets 5 Years Probation.(Journal North)

Anthony Dohi was qualified to handle janitorial contracts but not construction contracts -- both of which the Bureau of Indian Affairs illegally awarded him in 1999.

Dohi, 30, was sentenced Wednesday to five years of federal probation, including six months of home confinement, for his involvement in contracts procured for him by his father-in-law, former BIA contracts manager Stephen Calvin.

Senior U.S. District Judge LeRoy Hansen also ordered Dohi, a self-employed contractor, to pay restitution totalling $225,966.51 to the BIA and Puma Construction Co. of Albuquerque. Puma was one of the subcontractors Dohi hired to perform construction work before he ran out of money and defaulted on the contract. …
