APD Arrests 43 at DWI Checkpoints.(Final)



Albuquerque police handed out hundreds of traffic tickets and made dozens of drunken-driving arrests over the Memorial Day weekend.

DWI checkpoints at Fourth and Bridge SW, and at Coors and Gonzales SW resulted in 43 drunken-driving arrests, police say.

Saturation patrols of the West Side ended with officers handing out 72 traffic citations, towing 14 vehicles and ticketing 25 people for "unreasonable noise," police documents said.

Underage drinkers also were a priority this holiday, as last week marked the final week of classes and graduations at most Albuquerque high schools. …
