Cedar Crest Museum Includes Pit House

Tucked along the Turquoise Trail is a place where one can step back in time thousands of years. The Museum of Archaeology and Material Culture is located off north N.M. 14 in Cedar Crest.

It is the brainchild of Bradley and Deborah Bowman, who have invested 20 years -- and their life savings -- to create this first-class "home" museum.

"It is so cool," said 11-year-old Westley Henrard from Placitas, who was visiting the museum recently with his mother, Sylvia.

Westley and his mother wandered through a couple of buildings and several rooms filled with artifacts that make up the museum, before descending into a pit house Bowman built next to the museum. …
