Daily Demand Hits 12 Million Gallons

Four hundred thousand gallons.

It's enough to cover a football field, sideline to sideline, goal line to goal line, with at least a foot of water. It's enough for a two-person household to live on for four, maybe even five years.

It's also how much city water use has increased this year compared with last. It's not a shocking development for city water company leaders, but expected since the city stepped back into Stage 2 drought restrictions from Stage 3, water authorities said.

Municipal water company numbers show the average daily demand this month has been about 12 million gallons, in contrast to last year's 11. …
