Have you always wanted to write for your school paper, but thought it was too late? Or wondered how you could improve your reporting, editing or photography skills?

This year's New Mexico High School Journalism Workshop, Sunday through June 4 in Portales, can solve that for you. And there's still time to sign up.

This summer's new format is completely hands-on, offering intensive workshops on skills like basic writing (for those just starting out), photography or editorial management (the group that produces the workshop newspaper, Student News).

"In the past, kids used to spend their mornings and part of the afternoons listening to professionals and taking notes and in the afternoons and evenings, they'd write their stories," says Pat Graff, La Cueva High journalism teacher and a member of the New Mexico High School Journalism Workshop Committee. …
