Gary King Weighs Chances in Two GOP Strongholds.(Final)

Former state Rep. Gary King of Moriarty is mulling a run for Congress next year in either New Mexico's Albuquerque-based 1st Congressional District or the southern 2nd Congressional District.

"I'm thinking about it," King said in an interview. "I hate to get out of politics all together."

King, the son of former three-term Gov. Bruce King, dropped out of the 2002 Democratic gubernatorial primary race after being steamrolled by now-Gov. Bill Richardson at the Democratic pre-primary nominating convention that year.

King, a lawyer, said he currently lives in the 1st District, which has been represented by Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., since 1998.
