Decorated dinosaurs gather on Civic Plaza

Sir Dollar Saurus spent his first four months of life quite ignominiously, as a replacement for the second car in his creator's garage.

But the plucky fiberglass seismosaurus will get the chance to shine June 7 at the Dino Stompede, a family-friendly event that will help raise money for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.

Perhaps you've noticed the 5-foot-tall painted and dressed dinosaurs at different places around town -- at the Sunport, along Central -- over the past few months. In all, there are more than 40.

Their high-profile placement on Civic Plaza, which began May 9, was designed to draw attention to the Natural History Museum. …
