The city of Santa Fe is getting ready to raise the curtain on its latest artificial surface endeavor.

Covering approximately 2.5 acres, a plush, forest green turf surface has been installed at Salvador Perez Park near the intersection of St. Francis Drive and Alta Vista Street. Although the field is ready for use, it will not be open to the public until late June or early July due to ongoing work surrounding the field.

At a cost of about $700,000, the field is the third such surface the city has installed in the last seven months, joining the football field at Capital High School and practice facility for track and football at Santa Fe High. …
